Why Pack 202?

Pack 202 is a welcoming, family-oriented Cub Scout pack serving boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade across Cary, Apex, and Holly Springs. Here, kids discover adventure, build lasting friendships, and grow in character - while families make memories together.

Choosing a Cub Scout pack is about finding the right fit for your child and your family. Here’s what makes Pack 202 special:

1. A Truly Family-Oriented Pack

Cub Scouting is designed as a family program - and Pack 202 lives that every week. Parents and siblings are welcome at all meetings. We believe the best adventures happen when families share them. Our meetings and outings create natural opportunities for quality time, shared experiences, and stronger connections at home.

2. Convenient Location for Cary, Apex and Holly Springs Families

We meet Thursday evenings from 6:45–8:00 PM at St. Francis United Methodist Church (2965 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary—just north of Penny Road). Our location is ideal for families throughout southeast Cary and nearby Apex and Holly Springs.

3. Year-Round Adventure and Fun

From the classic Pinewood Derby to unique adventure trips, Pack 202 keeps Scouts engaged and excited all year long.

Throughout the school year:

  • Camping, monthly hikes, and spcial events such as fishing, bike rodeos
  • Annual Pinewood Derby
  • STEM events and hands-on learning
  • Community service projects
  • Apex Christmas Parade


Summer highlights:

  • Cub Scout Summer Camp
  • Wake County Speedway racing
  • Kayaking and canoeing
  • Minor League Baseball outings
  • Pack picnic


Signature end-of-year trips: Past adventures have included sleeping aboard the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier in Charleston, SC, and “Sleeping with the Fish” overnight at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

4. Real Growth Through the Cub Scout Advancement Trail

Cub Scouts progress along a clear, age-appropriate advancement trail. Each rank is earned by completing required and elective Adventures that build character, citizenship, leadership, personal fitness, and outdoor skills - while keeping the experience fun and rewarding.

The ranks:

  1. Lion – Kindergarten
  2. Tiger – 1st Grade
  3. Wolf – 2nd Grade
  4. Bear – 3rd Grade
  5. Webelos – 4th Grade
  6. Arrow of Light – 5th Grade (the highest Cub Scout rank and a bridge to Scouts BSA)

5. Character, Confidence and Lifelong Skills

Through Scouting, kids try new things, learn and grow, boost self-confidence, explore the outdoors, serve others, and practice making ethical choices. They learn to work with others, persevere through challenges, and take pride in doing their best - skills that last far beyond the Cub Scout years.

6. Open to Boys & Girls

Pack 202 welcomes both boys and girls in grades K–5. Every child has the opportunity to experience the full Cub Scout program in a supportive, inclusive environment.
